From the Principal's desk
You are here for a skill, not just a degree
When I was a young lecturer, a senior teacher told me: "A book will tell you what a fever is, but the patient will teach you what a fever feels like." That sentence still shapes the way we teach here.
This is why our students are taken to the hospital from the first professional year. At first they only observe; then they learn to take a history, then the pulse, then the diagnosis. By the final year, standing in front of a patient holds no hesitation for them.
When our students finish Kulliyat and Moalajat, we want them to carry both the skill of reading a pulse in their hands and compassion for the patient in their hearts. Compassion without knowledge is useless; knowledge without compassion is dangerous.
Most of the students who come here are from farming families. We honour their parents' hard work by keeping fees to a minimum, by helping personally with every scholarship form, and by never letting a student abandon studies for want of money alone.
If you want to study Unani with your whole heart, you are welcome here. And if you have come only for a degree — come anyway; we may yet change your mind.
